The decade commencing in 2013 is taking the University of Adelaide to the eve of its 150th anniversary, and marks the beginning of a new period of strategic re-assertion of the distinctive University of Adelaide experience. The new Strategic Plan, Beacon of Enlightenment, sets out to recapture the vision of the university’s founder, its first Vice-Chancellor Dr Augustus Short. In a rapidly changing environment, the University of Adelaide is clear about its goals and intentions—we are an international institution that embraces the ideal of the research university, where the union of teaching and research, combined in a search for impartial truth is fundamental; where the small group learning experience is supported by the innovative use of flexible learning technologies; and the ground-breaking work of our world-class researchers crosses disciplinary boundaries to creatively address the world’s great problems. This vision needs imaginative, skilled people to support it. The role of Director, Advancement is a pivotal one for alumni and development activities. Working closely with the Vice Chancellor I am be responsible for the hands-on management of a size able team, charged with significantly enhancing the philanthropic income and alumni participation.

Federal and State elections are expensive to contest which increases the responsibility in the fundraising area. The Liberal Party is dependent on the generosity of it's members and supporters not just to stage election campaigns but also to keep the secretariat functioning. We rely on major contributors as well as the multitude of individuals and organisations that support our functions.

Working with Not for Profit organisation to increase their net return through three main strategies: Staff and CEO education and training Fundraising program development and implementation Program cost reduction through community connectivity

Maurice helps chief executives of small-to-medium sized businesses become better leaders, who make better decisions and drive better results for their organisations as a TEC Chair in Adelaide with The Executive Connection (TEC). He is passionate about helping chief executives from South Australian SMEs reach their potential. Members of TEC receive a comprehensive package consisting of "Advisory Board" Peer Group Meetings, Private 1-to-1 Mentoring Sessions with the group Chair, Expert Speaker Workshops, Exclusive Resources, and Connectivity with the Local and International TEC Community.

Key Duties- Review and restructure the organisation upon my appointment- Manage the day-today operations of the organization including strategic, financial, human resources, marketing and fundraising functions- Report to the board on a monthly basis in addition to playing a key role in developing the strategic direction for the TQEHRF at this level- Setting and meeting ambitious fundraising targets- Developing innovative and new fundraising strategies for TQEHRF and putting in place the resources and training to deliver on these targets- Liaison with key partners including government, scientists etc to - High level networking with current and potential donors- Media and PR-Working closely with the University Research Departments in funding arrangements-Responsible for the commercalisation of research out of TQEH Major achievements- Grew the net income of the organisation from zero to $5million per year.- Increased funding to research by 20% per year for eight consecutive years.- Left the organisation with a very sound financial position wit assets in excess of $5million.- Brought a new successful model for major lotteries to the organisation.- Achieved the finding of a $19million research facility for the organisation.- Grew the donor database from a list of hundreds to 67,000 active donors.- FIA 1998 National Award Winner for TQEH Bequest Program - FIA 1999 national Award Winner for TQEH Donor Acquisition Program.

Developed new fundraising strategies. These included Direct Mail Programs and commercial operations with booths in shopping centers selling fundraising products.

Developed the Hotel Break open Bingo program. Managed the annual second hand sale. Worked on the door knock program. Assisted with the direct mail program.
