The Apple Cloud Services (ACS) team builds and provides systems and infrastructure that fuel Apple’s services. We are the foundation on which Apple’s software developers build the products that our customers love. As the Carrier SRE Manager I was responsible for the success of the team and individuals who contribute to the success of Google's messaging strategy. I created and fostered inclusive, productive, and flexible environments in order to execute on Google’s goals and to help team members thrive. I managed the performance and growth of the team members and provided opportunities and support for individuals to achieve their goals and the team’s mission. Carrier SRE is responsible for Rich Communication Services, Hosted Voice, Mobile Gateway, Phone Verifier and SMS Relay. Between these services we are responsible for sending over 165 million messages a day and 60 billion messages annually.

The Technical Operations team is responsible for all aspects of the Jibe Mobile service. This includes the infrastructure (colo, servers & networking), full stack (os, apps), and systems management (automation, config management, monitoring).Responsibilities:* Balance the need to "keep things running" with allocating time to long-term, high-impact projects* Drive staff and organizational development: establish clear goals and performance targets for the team while rewarding initiative, discipline, dedication and technical excellence* Assess employee performance frequently by providing feedback on an ongoing basis, address under-performance, and recognize excellent performance* Improve operational processes and documentation; document technical environments, processes and procedures, testing plans, project plans* Improve metrics and apply them to help quantify the effectiveness of teams and services* Drive initiatives to reduce manual processes through automation* Own the uptime and reliability and availability of our infrastructure* Own the server infrastructure, what we use, where we use it, how much it costs and how we can constantly improve it* Own the relationships with vendors, hosting providers, CDN’s and any other 3rd party services we use to build our infrastructure* Work with Stakeholders to identify and document roadmap/vision for all of the lifecycle tools within the evolving infrastructure ecosystem. Conduct gap analysis on what tools/processes are missing/required to meet the larger objectives. Identify key metrics/measures that will be used to evaluate success and validate the business impact of the program* Define and document the end-to-end business processes used today and identify where and how tooling solutions will aid with streamlining and scaling the process* Work with the various teams to design and develop a scalable solution that meets the goals and objectives.
