About Dave Woodward

I have been building web-based software products at companies of all sizes for twenty years. I have built all parts of full-stack applications from distributed multi-threaded multi-process systems at scale, SQL and no-SQL databases, http & xmpp servers, server architecture and networking to front-end design and even performant client-side features. The latest client-side technologies my team and I were building had RNN models doing inference in the web browser on Web Assembly and WebGL.I have managed teams of engineers and worked with founders of small companies (a 4 person startup) and company-wide successfully across silos at enterprise companies (ExactTarget and later Salesforce).My strengths are both as an IC and as a Manager and Director for software engineers, data scientists, designers and technologists. I’ve built and enforced productive Software Development Life Cycle policies for teams of engineers and also scaled out projects collaborating cross-company to deliver business value effectively. I’ve run teams that used typical informal agile and formal Scrum project management systems and managed budgets, performance, and mentored employees to successful careers.I enjoy getting my hands dirty building software and technology no matter the domain. I am programming language agnostic and I can quickly ramp up on any system large or small.Some examples of technologies I’m expert in are PostgreSQL, Typescript, HTML/CSS/Browser APIs, Web Assembly, Linux, Python (scikit learn, PyTorch, numpy), Docker, and system design & architecture.
