In mid-2012 I joined Intel to work on the OnCue platform, an over-the-top video service. It was at this time that I moved to a completely new technology stack consisting of decidedly non-Microsoft technologies: Scala, Play Framework, Akka, AWS, Linux, OSX, Mule ESB, Kafka, MySQL, and Cassandra.At Intel, I led the team responsible for integrating business systems with the OnCue platform. My accomplishments include:- Built team of talented and passionate engineers to develop and test web services to support integration.- Created a highly-available, scalable, reactive enterprise architecture loosely-coupling the OnCue platform with business systems.- Exposed RESTful APIs secured with OAuth2.0 for operational and billing system integration.- Defined core data model used for system entities across the platform.- Successfully integrated billing (Aria), logistics, CRM (ExactTarget), customer care (Salesforce.com), financial/accounting (SAP) systems with OnCue.- Implemented TDD and code review policies which significantly drove down bug count.- Mandated automated testing to gate deployments and to provide metrics indicating relative build quality.

Building upon my experience at 180SQUARED, I moved to Alcatel-Lucent in late 2010. I was privileged to provide enterprise applications for IPTV for leading Tier-1 telcos worldwide. I mainly used Microsoft Windows, SQL Server, and .NET technologies.My primary responsibility was leading the team that defined IPTV application architecture. My accomplishments include:- Designed and implemented an billing and operations integration platform for IPTV systems that enables multi-screen and multi-tenant/service wholesaling, billing integration, and automated device provisioning.- Re-designed ALU's IPTV application suite supporting Caller-ID, Remote DVR, and other applications.- Successfully represented ALU's IPTV software suite during technical pre-sales and customer support and training activities.- Implemented source control, build, and release management systems.

After Microsoft I joined 180SQUARED, a startup focusing on IPTV professional services and software. I led the product engineering team and was responsible for the entire life cycle of 180SQUARED software suite. Our customers were mainly Tier-2 and Tier-3 North American telcos. I was deeply involved in technical pre-sales, deployment, support, and training for all of our customers.My accomplishments include:- Designed 180SQUARED's full product suite which was an industry-leading set of applications that enabled seamless OSS-BSS integration with Microsoft Mediaroom and telco business systems, multi-tenancy/service wholesaling support, and value-add applications such as Caller ID and Remote DVR.- Managed team that designed, implemented, tested, and released projects consistently on schedule and under budget.- Delighted our customers by being constantly available for support and incorporating feedback into near future releases.- Reduced customer CapEx by consistently driving down software and hardware pre-requisites, and OpEx costs of Microsoft Mediaroom by streamlining customer workflows with our software.- Established 3rd party OSS-BSS development guidelines and personally drove successful and on-time integrations with various billing and CRM systems.- Managed partner relationships for various collaborations around mobile video, advanced mailboxes, and VOD QoS.

After gaining some early work experience around Washington, DC, I moved to the Bay Area and got my first "real" job at Microsoft (originally WebTV). I began my career there as a software engineer in test and moved on to a more general developer role by the time I left. I worked on many Microsoft TV projects there, from WebTV through Mediaroom.My accomplishments include:- Developed against various Mediaroom feature such as digital rights management (DRM), client diagnostics, parental controls, electronic program guide (EPG), and OSS-BSS integration APIs.- Led test efforts for Microsoft TV IPG and Foundation Servers.- Designed, developed, and tested STB viewing tracking application.- Created assorted test infrastructure around automation, web services, and performance, scale, and stress testing.- Successfully shipped Microsoft TV Advanced 1.0 (2001), Microsoft TV IPG 1.5 (2003), Microsoft TV Foundation 1.0 (2003), Microsoft TV Tracking Application 1.0 (2004), Microsoft Mediaroom 1.0 (2005) and 1.1 (2006).
