About Fred Wade

I am a passionate, deeply technical software engineer leading organizations of like-minded engineers. Building amazing, transformative software motivates me. I am most comfortable following and enforcing agile methodologies including scrum and test-driven development (TDD). My core beliefs consist of the following:- Code is elegant: clean, concise, and easily understood. - APIs are consistent in their design and a pleasure to develop against. - Refactoring is not a dirty word, and is in fact central to a healthy software development process.- Continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) increases quality while reducing risk.- Engineers are responsible for their code from cradle to grave and are empowered to build, deploy, and debug their code with as little friction as possible.- Decisions are data-driven and backed up by metrics.I enjoy building world-class software organizations consisting of people who are as excited about technology as I am and who will challenge me and help improve my knowledge and skills. I follow the latest trends and developments in the software industry and attempt to incorporate the best ideas into my team's work.My early experience was with Microsoft platforms using C/C++, C#, ASP.NET, and T-SQL. I also have a foundation in early mobile development experience using Java and C++. More recently I have pivoted to development against the Typesafe stack (Scala, Play Framework, and Akka) using MySQL and Cassandra databases running on Linux on Amazon Web Services (AWS). I am a wholehearted convert to functional programming, cloud computing, and highly-scalable micro-service architecture.

Listed skills include Agile Methodologies, Architecture, Software Development, Integration, and 33 others.
