Frank W. van den Berg is managing director/owner of ALYX bv and Senior Lecturer at Vrije Universiteit. He is/has been active as entrepreneur, banker, investor and engineer. He is a native of the Netherlands, born in Amsterdam, raised in Rotterdam (Erasmiaans Gymnasium). He studied Mechanical Engineering at TU Delft and Business Administration/Economics at Columbia University in NYC. He has also been for 14 years an elected politician. Formally retired, but continues teaching at the VU.He has worked for 12 years oversees in the Far East (in Brunei for Royal Dutch Shell) and in New York (for Chase Manhattan Bank/JP Morgan Chase & Bankers Trust/Deutsche Bank, as Vice President Corporate Banking). In the late 1980's he worked as investment manager for the Oranje-Nassau Group bv, a venture capital firm.He has been (1990-'98) managing director/co-owner of Slijppol Aluminium bv, an industrial company with 55 employees, active in electrochemical anodizing. He has also been interim manager and member of the Board of Directors of three companies.Since 2000 he lectures Financial Economics at the Vrije Universiteit, Nyenrode University and Webster University, as adjunct professor. He has taught 3 summer courses at Shanghai University (2004) and Chengdu University (2005, 2007) and 4 times at University of Suriname (2008-'11).He conducts in-house courses for e.g. ABN.AMRO Bank and RiskMatrix. He has published articles in magazines and on the “op-ed” pages in newspapers. He concentrates on Entrepreneurial Finance.He has been for 14 years politically active, as elected member (VVD party) of the Provincial Council of North Holland (1994-'98) and since 2004 as member of the City Council of Bloemendaal. He is married to Paulanha Diamant, who worked for the Nieuwe Kerk & Hermitage a/d Amstel, Amsterdam, responsible for sponsoring. They lived in Aerdenhout, now in Haarlem.
