When I was first starting out in teaching some 30 odd years ago, the most technical training I had was how to create dittos and thread film into a projector ... .not transferable skills to today at all.The two most important “life” skills that my mother wanted me to possess: typing, how to look up anything I wanted to know about (she was a reference librarian). In hindsight my mother was a freaking guru. I can now type on a keyboard without looking and make my computer fly!
