The target focus of the NSI Project is to improve college-ready on-track outcomes for Black, Latinx and low-income children. The BARR Model employs eight interlocking strategies that build intentional relationships, utilize real-time data, and inspire schools to achieve concrete academic, social and emotional outcomes for all students. We know that our current education and economic systems don’t work well for everyone, particularly Black, Latinx and low-income Americans. Through the inherent strength and synergy of NSI - the use of data-driven continuous improvement - schools are empowered to look at data to identify a problem, select a strategy to address and mitigate the problem, set targets for improvement, and then iterate to make the approach more effective and improve student outcomes.
