Daily operations and oversight of nonprofit management, event production, research and development, grant writing and marketing campaigns to promote livability, culture and community in Lowell.

Through an entrepreneurial apprenticeship in assisting the CEO in daily operations and program development and oversight, this position provides experience in event planning and management, research and development, grant writing, and media campaigns to promote Lowell as a destination city.

Through an entrepreneurial apprenticeship in assisting the CEO in daily operations and program development and oversight, this position provides experience in event planning and management, research and development, grant writing, and media campaigns to promote Lowell as a destination city.

As part of a grassroots organization, this position has provided experience in research for an app that is currently in development; provided opportunities to gain first-hand experience in outreach with vendors that attend our community events and acting event manager for the events; has provided direct experience in establishing connections throughout the Lowell community with the non-profit, for-profit, and community group sectors; as well as being a resource to incoming associates, interns and volunteers.Our community building events have been very successful, including The Lowell Food and Wine Festival which brought nearly 1500 people in its first year and approximately 60 different vendors participated; the Craft Beer Walk which brought over 200 people; and our monthly Conversations which identify key stakeholders and community members to attend a focused discussion on a specific topic of the Lowell community. Other initiatives that I directly am engaged with include our media exhibits and data substantiating the social needs in our community, namely Stories Made In Lowell which highlights the positive impact that Lowell's difference makers of the non-profit, small business and community group sectors have in the Lowell communities; and Trailer Chat which provides stories and connections with the nine different neighborhoods and community members of those neighborhoods.

As a building manager, the essential responsibilities include flexibility, effective management, event support, building security and customer service. Timeliness, overseeing the welcome desk staff, critical thinking and problem solving, and providing up-to-date information about the University of Massachusetts Lowell to students and guests ensures that the University Crossing Operations team creates a culture that is a welcoming and positive experience for all those that enter through the doors.
