I am Gabrielle Warren, a 29-years-young writer, entrepreneur, artist and chef specializing in international cuisines and cannabis infusion. Being well-versed in various industries from years of hands-on work in many hospitality, retail, and property management positions, I bring a neoteric perspective to any project or position I become invested in.At the present time, I am enjoying my training and transition into journalism via training courses at the Poynter Institute and various other resources available, like Storycraft, authored by Jack Hart, the former managing editor of The Oregonian; and Writing for Social Change, a Masterclass by Roxanne Gay of the NY Times. I am also receiving private instruction on the fundamentals and basics of AP style writing, feature reporting, and service journalism.I believe that my wealth of background knowledge in so many industries intersecting with cannabis is a contributor to all forms of art I produce, and comes of use when trying to educate and advocate around the use of cannabis and the cultures surrounding it. This knowledge in tandem with my charisma and social networking savvy will allow me to be a resourceful team member and contributing writer. My perspective is nuanced, fresh and complex in approach; I am deeply intrigued by the concept of service journalism and am sure I would be of sound contribution to any publication at large, given the opportunity.I have been involved with the city-wide push for the awareness of and public education around cannabis since 2013, when I became a patient. I have witnessed decriminalization, legalization, and all of the complications and opportunities that come with those processes in a multi-state metropolitan area as residents fought for recreational use in a federal city. My family has been in the legacy cannabis market for multiple generations as wholesalers and owners of ancillary businesses in private retail entertainment, catering and delivery. Cannabis would always be a part of my life and personal history, even if I were to stop consuming.
