Diverse background in land use, transportation and environmental planning, as well as work in LEED construction, property development and management. Gabe worked as an entrepreneur managing two start-up companies in the Salt Lake City area doing commercial development for local independent business clients and open space preservation work, focused in the Wasatch mountains. Gabe moved to Bellingham, WA in 2015 to live near family in Vancouver, BC and focus on habitat conservation work. He was the Conservation Director at the Whatcom Land Trust doing community outreach, conservation planning, land acquisitions and strategic planning work for 4 1/2 years before becoming the Executive Director in Feb 2020 right before COVID started. Gabe led the organization as the Exec Director for 4 years through a successful period where the land trust significantly increased its staffing capacity, fundraising, and size/scale of land protection projects. The Land Trust continues to improve its stellar reputation in the community as the conservation experts in Whatcom County. Gabe just wrapped up his tenure as the Exec Director and is contemplating his next professional move.
