I love to design systems and build tools for empowering people. I was introduced to programming by an amazing third grade teacher. She had high school students to come help teach me programming and asked me to help her train teachers at Gwinnett Tech. Dr. Carr instilled a passion to not just explore the limits of technology but to keep it grounded in how it impacts people. Since, I have developed tools, coded programs, trained people, and designed for each new generation of computing system as we moved from the personal computer to the mobile platforms of today. For me, technology is a language for creating solutions, not just a tool for consuming experiences. I speak this language fluently to leverage the power technology gives us to change peoples lives for the better. I am an expert on becoming an expert in each new iteration of innovation. With a broad spectrum of experience from developing websites, programming systems in C, designing applications in Java, prototyping mobile solutions in .NET, creating APIs in Ruby on Rails, making with Arduino, building with iOS and Xcode, to dreaming and delivering the future with researchers at Berry College, Georgia Tech and Intel. With every door that is opened to us with technology, it’s easy to get distracted by this year’s shiny new “what” answer. The questions of “how” and “why” are what drive me instead. I enjoy the challenge of design and the creation of systems.At Grace I enjoyed architecting solutions that helped contribute to our medium sized church of a few hundred evolving into a family of seven churches of many thousands.At Big Nerd Ranch, we didn't just use agile principles on our screens to write code, we live them out in teams and in our lives. We train people to learn, adapt, and iterate towards the future and not get stuck in past. We're constantly learning and pushing each other forward. I ghost-wrote iOS apps for major Fortune 50 companies and then eventually transitioned to Engineering Leadership as a Director.Recently I moved over to CFA to lead the rebuild of our mobile point-of-sale as a part of a large commerce modernization effort. We are on track to deliver a major evolution to allow for Chicken Anywhere, Chicken Now, and Chicken Forever by bridging the strong core of our infrastructure with a new empowered intelligent edge platform.I am always looking to leverage my skills and experience to deliver in all environments from prototyping with an IDE, to white boarding solutions, to leading a healthy team, and even presenting in the board room.
