Cision is a media monitoring, analysis, and research firm that informs clients on how they are covered by the media. It is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, and has offices in Europe, North America and Asia, and partners in 125 countries.As Vice President and Corporate Counsel, I served as the sole legal officer for a global software company. In the role, I was the legal liaison regarding legal matters between our company, corporate clients, public relations firms, and other government agencies. My primary duty was to draft and negotiate company agreements, including acquisitions, software licensing, strategic alliances, outsourcing, IT procurement, and marketing and advertising. Additionally, I counseled and advised on several matters related to online software, such as intellectual property, data privacy, social media, online marketing and advertising, and content distribution.

The Tribune Company is a multimedia conglomerate, and the nation’s 2nd largest newspaper publisher. It owns 12 newspapers (including the Chicago Tribune and L.A. Times), 23 television stations (including WGN), and over 50 websites.As a law clerk within their in-house legal department, I drafted and edited company agreements involving content licensing and third party vendors. I reviewed and summarized pending legislative proposals, new case law, and FCC decisions and rulemaking proceedings. I analyzed and wrote on legal matters regarding publishing, broadcasting, and online media, which included online data privacy, keyword trademark infringement, digital music licensing, and FCC regulations on television advertising.

As a Research Assistant, I gathered company and market information, and prepared stock and financial data for a business simulation exercise.

As a Teacher’s Assistant, I coached and advised students on negotiation methods and techniques. Additionally, I helped in coordinating negotiation exercises throughout the semester term.

The San Diego Convention Center Corporation manages the convention center in San Diego, which is used primarily for association and conference meetings. Their Midwest Regional Sales office covers groups headquartered in the Midwest. As a Sales Assistant/Coordinator, I drafted convention center agreements, maintained sales and lead data, and was a liaison between sales personnel and participant businesses.As a Booking Coordinator, I oversaw the maintenance of sales and booking information for the entire sales force of the San Diego Convention Center. In this role, I diagnosed and improved our national sales database system for overall efficiency. Additionally, I calculated and reported economic figures to municipal sectors and tourism organizations.
