Gabriel founded Gabriel Bitrán & Asociados (“GBA”) in 1995 - one of the leading applied economics consulting firms in Chile and South America - and is currently its Senior Partner. His activities involve commercial and antitrust litigation and provide economic and strategic advice and conflict resolution support. It also assists companies and trade unions deal with regulatory or legislative change. GBA's areas of business also encompass asset valuation for M&A transactions - over US$ 3 billion during the last 10 years - with a special focus in infrastructure, involving electric power, telecom, water and sanitation, airports, toll roads and ports. During Mr. Bitrán’s 20-years career, he has acted as an advisor for leading corporations in South America, among them Petrobras, Exxonmobil, ED&F MAN, Endesa, ING, Lafarge, Hydroquébec, Brookfield Power, Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Fund, D&S, VTR, ING, ENAP, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, Nextel, Novartis, Holcim, Principal Financial Group, Liberty Media, Colbún, GE Capital and Movistar.Gabriel's experience in expert witnessing includes Chilean courts as well as arbitration panels and the International Chamber of Commerce, in venues such as London, New York, Buenos Aires and Santiago. As part of his activity in commercial and antitrust litigation, Mr Bitrán maintains a close working relationship with the largest and most reputed law firms in Chile, as well as some in the UK, the US, Argentina and Perú.Gabriel has been consistently selected as a top antitrust economist in Chile in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 in the Who’s Who Antitrust Lawyers and Economists, Global Competition Review (and some years in the Euromoney Guide to the World’s Leading Competition and Antitrust Economists, as well).Mr. Bitrán has also been appointed to the board of several listed companies and affiliates of international corporations.
