My enlistment in the Marine Corps showed me how to take my deliberate behavior to the next level. The meticulous and layered planning that was our daily operation gave me direct experience in creating airtight plans that position me to handle best-case scenario, worst-case scenario, and anything in between. The intense emphasis on team effort taught me how to quickly evaluate a team member’s talent to place them in a position of comparative advantage for mission success.The long hours of grueling training exercises showed me that my true limits can always be pushed farther than what I’m comfortable with.The diverse cultural backgrounds of this tightly-knit community and the travel experiences from being stationed in Okinawa, Japan gave me a deep appreciation for new perspectives and new approaches to human connection and community.
