Attending Florida International University (FIU) for a B.S. in Marine Biology, I started my career during this time involving myself with several laboratories in different disciplines including, but not limited to; marine ecology, acoustic ecology, behavioral ecology, ecotoxicology, epigenetics, and shark ecology. After graduating, I took a position with the Marine Ecology and Acoustics laboratory, gathering and analyzing acoustic data on the population density of red snapper (Lutjanus campechanus) in the Gulf of Mexico. I then took a position as a Alaskan Groundfish Observer and Northeast Protected Species of Observer before accepting a position with Florida FIsh and Wildlife Conservation Commission as a Biological Scientist I with the Mollusc group. I am currently a NOAA affiliate as Acoustic Data Analyst. The work included analyzing acoustic data on the foraging habits of Atlantic Right Whale (Eubalaena glacialis) in order to create a baseline, prior to the establishment of offshore wind installations, in the Southern New England Area. Since moving back down to South Florida, I have been working with RES as an environmental restoration technician with duties including code enforcement and environmental inspections. I currently hold diving certificates as an Instructor Open Water Diver, Cave 1, and advance nitrox/ decompression.My research interest in the future center around behavioral epigenetics. I want to examine the phenotypic changes of social marine fishes and how these changes could be linked to different behaviors and survival strategies.
