About Gabriel Kuman

As a Lecturer and Head of Department at Divine Word University, I have more than six years of experience in social and health research and teaching, as well as monitoring and evaluation of major research and government projects. I have a Master's degree in International Public Health and a Certificate of Attainment issued by the International Organisation for Migration (IOM).I have demonstrated expertise in conducting literature reviews, designing, planning, and writing research project proposals, preparing interview guides and questionnaires, and collecting primary data using various qualitative methods. I have also contributed to research and community development projects on topics such as gender-based violence, women's economic empowerment, community engagement, peace building, and conflict resolution.     I am a social and health research professional with more than 6 years of experience in social and health research and teaching as well as monitoring and evaluation of major research and government projects. I have demonstrable experience doing literature reviews, design, plan, and write research project proposals, preparing interview guides and questionnaires and actually involve in the fieldwork for primary data collection. I have experience applying various research data collection techniques such as interview guides (used in in-depth interviews, focus group discussions and participatory research), survey questionnaires, case studies, and personal narratives to explore and gather people’s lived experiences, knowledge, attitudes and practices. I also have experience in transcribing interviews and analyse research data (both qualitative and quantitative) as well as writing up research reports and disseminate findings through conferences, seminars, courses and in research publications. Furthermore, I have experience in the design, planning, implementation, reviewing, monitoring and evaluation of government projects like the refugee resettlement and integration program in Manus and Rabaul as well as the Komuniti Lukautim Ol Meri Project – a project that aimed at ending violence against women and girls with Family Health International (FHI360).My strong Christian upbringing and background have always been the driving force in my passion, discipline and approach to work ethic and my working relationships with colleagues, superiors and other stakeholders.
