As an audit supervisor, I represent the organisation in client engagements and stand as the link between audit staff (teams) and client management. My duties basically involves managing the audit engagement and audit work with an aim to build client confidence and to provide the audit partner/director with sufficient and appropriate evidence to form an accurate audit opinion. My day to day duties would include the following;: Leading an audit team and reviewing of audit work: Coordinating and managing an audit engagement to ensure deadlines are met without compromising the quality of audit work : Liaising with client management and ensuring that all stakeholder expectations are exceeded : Being actively involved in developing the organisation's strategy, monitoring performance and expanding the client portfolio: Completing performance evaluations for trainee accountants and developing a suitable training program : Advising clients on suitable internal controls and remedial actions for audit findings : Performing quality control reviews to ensure all audit work meets set quality standards and meets International Standards on Auditing requirements (ISA): Keeping abreast with developments and changes in International Accounting Standards (IAS)and IFRS to ensure strong ongoing technical competence. My key clients are in the freight and logistics, energy, transport, healthcare, financial services and other industries. Some of my key clients are: Transnet SOC Ltd Turnover > US$4 billion.Transnet is the largest and most crucial part of the freight logistics chain in South Africa. Transnet operates an integrated freight transport company, formed around a core of five operating divisions that complement each other. Eskom SOC Ltd Turnover > US$10 billion Eskom generates approximately 95% of the electricity used in South Africa and approximately 45% of the electricity used in Africa. Eskom’s mandate is to generate, transmit and distribute electricity.

As a trainee accountant, I gained vast exposure to a wide range of clients in different industries and applying different business models. My portfolio of clients covered financial services, manufacturing, pension and provident funds, private and public sector entities, as well as non-profit entities. I managed to perform hands-on technical audit and accounting work in a professionally competent manner while balancing between delivering quality work and developing my learning experience. My day to day duties included the following;: Audit of annual financial statements of private, public and non-profit entities : Planning, execution and finalisation of an audit engagement : Supervising of audit team and reviewing of audit work in intricate detail : Reporting to the audit supervisor/manager and preparation of audit opinion : Audit of accounting records for management assertions and compliance with accounting standards. : Testing of internal controls and client compliance with applicable legislature and ethical codesI was involved in conducting training. I trained other trainees and was also involved in recruiting prospective trainees at carrier fairs around different universities.
