Gaby's main area of expertise are nature based solutions for wastewater treatment and characterising the biogeochemical transformations of phosphorus, iron and nitrogen compounds in natural and engineered systems. She is currently working on the development and improvement of nature based solutions to deliver multiple benefits, including and beyond wastewater treatment as well as a novel biological reactor for coagulant recovery. Gaby is the current Chair of the Constructed Wetland Association, has been an elected member of the management committee of the IWA Specialist Group on Wetland Systems for Water Pollution Control since 2012, and has authored books and peer-reviewed articles on treatment wetland.s from her experiences in Canada, USA, Argentina and the UK.
