With funding I had received from Cornell University, I started a microfinance project in Honduras. I then saw the need to create a long-term system of support for individuals and families who were working to improve their lives and that of their communities. After I had graduated in 2017, I extended this work to Mexico and launched R2 Society in January 2018. • Mentored with individuals and small NGOs who were heading impact-based projects in Latin America.• Met with grassroots leaders, local politicians, and small NGOs regarding issues they were addressing in central Mexico, such as indigenous women’s water rights, human rights and support for teenagers and young adults who lived in impoverished or abusive situations.• Built my project’s website which included social network and online learning functionalities. Worked on branding, design, site security and coding during the Covid-19 pandemic.
