Current Principal Investigator: Storytime STEM Packs – Supporting STEM Learning Through Literature, National Science Foundation I-Corps grant $50,000 (2015), in partnership with Westmoreland Library Network, support children’s librarians to engage children in STEM learning by connecting fiction and non-fiction literature to STEM concepts Co-PI: The Pitt-Bridge to College in Clairton City, Hive Fund for Connected Learning at the Sprout Fund grant, (2015-16), prepare underserved high school students to conduct community-based participatory research in STEM fields, in partnership with the University of Pittsburgh Facilitator: Educator Corporate Collaboration on the Common Core (EC4). Plan and facilitate educators’ immersive experience in corporations, exposing them to mathematics, science and engineering practices in the workplace, and supporting them to implement the practices in the classroom (2012-present) Senior Personnel: National Science Foundation Math Science Partnership grant (2003-2010), prepared 300 teacher leaders and administrators from 52 districts to implement inquiry-based science instruction and facilitated STEM Professional Learning Communities and Lesson Study Next Generation Science Standards Curator: evaluate resources to assemble a library of top-rated resources that support the new standards as member of the high school life science team Facilitator: planned and conducted professional development for the cognitive science treatment arm for the 21st Century Partnership for STEM Education (2009-2011) Consultant: Prepare over 50 administrators/year to become effective instructional leaders of science education, as part of a Math Science Partnership and the National Institute for School Leadership (2003 -present) Consultant: Support districts in strengthening the teaching and learning of mathematics and science grades K-12 through implementation of the Common Core Standards and Next Generation Science Standards
