About Gabriel Blankenship
Contracting with CACI I was Administering enclaves of Linux and Windows servers for Java Developers, regularly performing communications testing for the developers and in doing so had to communicate several time critical firewall modifications to our boundary security group. Also with CACI I wrote a White paper on a backup solution for a virtualized cluster we were running.Built an Intranet site for Wyoming Medical Center(WMC) utilizing PHP as the core language; project consisted of several thousand lines of php code, normalizing and automating existing databases and their processes, as well as creating several new tables and fetching data from other servers to make use of it on the Intranet site. When setting up WMC's first Virtual Servers I researched best practice standards for setting up SLES11 and Zenworks this research and attention to detail prevented slow downs in the project that would have been caused by unsecured and improperly configured hosts.

Apprentice Electrician & System Engineer
Designed a network layout and relay system for methane blower panels, this system allowed pumpers who normally had to manually check their pumps in a natural gas field by driving several miles each day and during the winter would be unable to access their fields the ability to check each pump or a field of pumps with just a few strokes of a keyboard. Each pump had a WAP which would connect to the Satellite Internet uplink for that field and relay pump information as well as allow for live control of the pump from the websites interface additionally they had access to a webcam on each pump that would have tilt control to visually inspect the pump and panel.Day to day duties included running wire and piping to pumps from blower panels and hooking up and programming Siemens PLC's and VFD's with Step 7. I reported daily progress to my supervisor when in the shop working on the IT aspect of projects and when out in the field as I was still an apprentice electrician I was supervised by a Journeyman, I functioned as the companies only in house IT resource and as such traveled to several sites around Wyoming. The company was owned by a group of Canadian investors and they made a decision to cut their operation in half in Wyoming which ended the IT portion of their contracting which led to my being laid off.
Help Desk Technician
As a Helpdesk technician I trained new tech's, managed ticket queue's, assisted with calls and helped when any of the tech's were stuck on a problem, wrote over 200 knowledgebase articles, created a support CD full of useful tools for our customers as well as some batch scripts to help with some basic troubleshooting, and I also started an in house repair program where our customers could bring in their PC's for basic hardware and software repairs. The PC repair program got to the point where we would receive PC's for repair due to other shops being backed up and as our services were free and only for VCN customers this was an additional sales point, between this project and the Support disk I had made a significant impact on call volume for the call center allowing for more time to help NOC with issues.Additionally as part of the Helpdesk team it was part of my duty to assist with group interviews. Our method for hiring new Helpdesk staff was to all gather together in our meeting room which usually consisted of 8 people doing a Q and A session with the interviewee, I believe this gave us all a better feel for candidates as we all had input in the process and were able to ask questions pertinent to each individual tech, the results spoke for themselves as we always had candidates that fit in and added to our expertise.
