Improvements to calibration of dissipative cat qubits on multi-cat chips.

Quantum Device Lab, supervised by Prof. WallraffWorking in- and outside the fridge, I upgraded the control electronics necessary for the operation of the new 43-qubit chip used to entangle two logical qubits as aimed in the ELQ program from IARPA.I overhauled the triggering scheme used in the setup both on a hardware and software level, resulting in a 100x reduction of relative line delays and a significant reduction of cabling between control electronics devices.

I ported a lattice-Boltzmann-method fluid dynamics simulation based on the Palabos C++ library to Maxeler's MaxCompiler environment for native FPGA execution. After deploying the solution on HPC systems located at Forschungszentrum Jülich, I derived KPIs that made up part of project OPTIMA findings regarding the impact of FPGAs for general purpose HPC.

Laboratory of Quantum and Nano-Optics, supervised by Prof. GallandI characterized molecular junctions and their response to electrical and optical stimulation by measuring their conductivity and photon emission. Our work helped draw a first sketch of how microscopic rearrangements of the molecular junction can alter its electrical and optical emission.

Designed, protyped and built an autonomous search and rescue robot, complete with computer vision and retrieval capabilities. Designed custom made chassis and PCB components. Received funding from the Young Engineers Program of Maxon Motors.
