Mälar Project in Södertälje (Sweden) - Design & Build Project -The project involved improvement of the infrastructure for shipping line on Lake Mälaren and included deepening and widening of the general waterway to Västerås and Köping and upgrading of Södertälje canal and locks. The project consisted of the following structures: Retaining walls (sheetpiles) for the stabilization of the canal side slopes including tieback anchors and capping beam; Replacement of the existing sluice gates, which requires temporary pits; Expansion of the sluice by demolishing the existing eastern sheet pile wall and constructing a new one just 4.5 m behind; Diversion of the sluice bridge, which involved temporary pits for the foundation of the bridge and installation of the new steel bascule bridge.
