Teaching General Physics to undergraduate students and Numerical Modeling and Geodynamics to graduate students. I do academic research in several domains, e.g. Algorithms for High Performance Computing, Solid Mechanics and Fluid Dynamics, Geodynamics, Seismology, Volcanology. My research is applied to a number of problems, e.g. in hazards: estimation of the landslide risk, tsunami generation, large earthquakes. My studies on plate tectonics have wide applications in the search of new deposits of natural resources.

Mainly worked on research in computational geodynamics. Developed new numerical methods combining surfaces and volume approaches. Applied to modeling tectonic evolution in Eastern Asia in the past 200 Myrs. Organized the first international conference on Geodynamics in S. Korea. Edited a Book edited by Wiley (http://eu.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-1118888855.html). Made innovative research on continental volcanism in Asia.

Research in computational Plate Tectonics. Focus on the statistical properties of plates. Research highlighted on the journal Science. Leading a small research group focused on developing computational geodynamics techniques. Teaching Geophysicsto undergraduate students.

Researching in the field of Computational Seismology. Development of new technique for modeling the crustal deformation near subduction zones in proximity to thrust regions, where the largest earthquakes on Earth happen. Supervising Graduate Students.

Developing new numerical techniques based on meshless methods for Computational Fluid Dynamics and Computational Mechanics. Written high impact new research on the role of energy in plate tectonics.

Using computational tool to model certain plate tectonics systems. Development of parallel codes for modeling Subduction, Geomorphology, mountain building and related problems. Written the first publication on three-dimensional numerical modeling of Oceanic arcs.
