I currently lead a multi-disciplinary organization of more than 100 software engineers and data professionals in designing and implementing GEHC’s Acute Care Data Platform, integrating diverse medical device datasets for real-time transport and compliance.• Define and execute a 3-year technical roadmap for a data mesh architecture, focusing on creating reusable data products.• Managed vendor relationships, financial planning, and senior executive communications, fostering a collaborative team environment for innovation and continuous improvement.

Led Agiliti’s Enterprise Data Management organization. Built this organization from 3 people to over 35 data and software engineers; introduced Data Management Job Families, Agile, DevOps and Modern Cloud Data Management to Agiliti while delivering into production two NEW analytical and transactional cloud data platforms on Microsoft Azure.• Led a global team of data and software engineers, implementing Agile and DevOps practices to deliver two new cloud data platforms on Microsoft Azure.• Spearheaded an Agile transformation, reducing feature cycle times and defect slippage metrics through communication tools and best practices.• Defined and executed Agiliti's Cloud Data Strategy, securing investment from Microsoft and establishing Data Governance and Analytics Community of Practice.

In this role, I was the portfolio architect for the Optum Enterprise Analytic organization.• Drove day-to-day architecture and strategic decisions for multiple cross-functional teams engineering OEA's Data Catalog & Sandbox, Analytic Library & Common Capability and Analytic Workbench (On public Azure).• This required a deep understanding of modern cloud-forward data and platform architectures with multimodal deploys onto container orchestration platforms (e.g. running Spark on Kubernetes).• Created and facilitated frequent executive updates and collaboration sessions with enterprise stakeholders.My previous responsibilities included:• Engineering Delivery Director leading a global set of teams with 40+ engineers focused on Optum Payment Integrities Commercial Data Mining, Recovery and Operations business.• Stood up and subsequently transitioning Optum Payment Integrities Data Governance practice.• Advanced Optum Payment Integrity's strategic technology roadmap by aligning the engineering teams on the use of Cloud, REST, Containers, CI/CD, IaC tools, Big Data best practices, NoSQL and various other modernization tools and tactics.• Working across the OPI line of business with the solution architects to develop transitional state architectures more aligned to service-based design enabling new business opportunities.

• Defined the strategy, architectures and reusable patterns for the storage, processing and consumption of data to/from internal/external as well as transactional and analytical sources for the UHG Data Lake.• Worked closely with delivery leadership to ensure alignment between the Optum Big Data Platform capabilities and the queue of distinct programs and their requirements back logged on the 2016 roadmap.• Authored, socialized and maintained the UHG Data Lake Solution Architecture Document.• In alignment with solution architecture, portfolio architecture, various delivery scrum teams and leadership, advanced Optum’s Big Data Strategy by reconciling speed to market tactile vs. strategic architectures.• Developed partnerships with the metadata, security, training and data science / BI teams to increase adoption and advance Big Data Platform capabilities.

Consult with project teams to inform Big Data technology/architecture decisions. Manage two teams of interns and engineers. Own all aspects of financial planning and TCO for the big data platform. Identify/imagine new big data capabilities and invest in engineering in order to deploy in the ecosystem.• Authored and maintained the big data platform technology roadmap, reference architecture and other architectural (functional decompositions, system interaction diagrams, data blue prints, etc.) artifacts.• Product owner for a scrum team of engineers who developed and deployed (to Ambari) an analytic application for monitoring multi-tenant platform usage KPI’s and metrics.• Scrum master for the business intelligence domain data services team to prioritize and develop APIs.• Defined the platform performance metrics mined from Nagios, Ganglia and Yarn, used to measure day-to-day platform health as well as forecast additional capacity growth and architectural opportunities.

While on the Data Management & Architecture team I worked in a small cross-functional team charged with authoring Target’s enterprise data strategy (which was presented to the CIO) and core data principles, which are currently used to guardrail in-flight and future business, data and technology/solution architectures.• Developed transitional data architectures and data blue prints for the Healthcare, Assortment Planning and Item capabilities to inform inflight and future state business intelligence initiatives.• Redesigned existing application-centric system interaction diagrams to future state data blueprints representing integration attributes, system authority, transformations and exposing remediation opportunities.• Drove consensus and generated enthusiasm for Target’s Data Principles to ensure buy-in, adoption and adherence to such concepts as services first, authoritative sources and virtualization over replication.• Led a team to develop a mobile application prototype engineered with MySQL and HTML5 to roll out as a new retail subscription service for expecting mothers.• Completed TOGAF™ training (certification pending).

Modernized and maintained Target’s merchandising business intelligence roadmap and planned sequence and priority across all projects in the MBI program in order to achieve frequent and value added analytic deliverables.• Developed capacity forecasts and performance models in Tableau and R Studio to ensure BI project resources would not be overwhelmed and require additional investment.• Worked in concert with leadership to align the release of new business capabilities with new business processes by accounting for dependencies and business readiness.• Worked to bring Big Data into Target. o Identified 15+ distributors of Hadoop, authored and issued RFI’s and RFP’s, interviewed companies (many of them, several times), participated in product demonstrations, scored proposals, identified the winning company and participated in contract negotiations. • Led a team in the development of a mobile application prototype using PhoneGap, for Target vendors to directly account for the inventory they were placing in Target’s stores in order to improve OH accuracy.

I was the lead Business Analyst responsible and accountable for defining the technical requirements to build out the Inventory subject area in Target’s Enterprise Data Warehouse.While in this role, I developed and socialized a new data warehousing requirements template for capturing and communicating data requirements. This template is still in use today.Subsequently I identified the need for methodology reform in how Target delivers Business Intelligence projects to the Merchandising pyramid. I built and presented the case for executing a project using the Scrum framework, secured buy-in and was given the go-ahead to start the MBI: Clearance Pricing project with this approach (during this time I was promoted and transitioned into my next role at Target).It was in this role that I began my journey with Big Data by working with three other folks (two architects and one lead infrastructure engineer) to bring Big Data into Target.Initially we identify 15+ distributors of Hadoop, authored and issued various RFI’s and RFP’s, interviewed companies (many of them, several times), reviewed product demonstrations, scored proposals, identified the winning company and participated in contract negotiations. This work resulted in standing up Target’s (Data) Discovery Platform, which demonstrated almost immediate value to the enterprise and has since been succeeded by building out a second more robust platform.
