Travel by Handstand.This project was a mobile magazine. Along with our media rich articles we aggregated travel-centric web content and provided planning and collecting tools to be used with all content in the app.The back-end was built on Ruby on Rails and had a full content management system for our authors as well as automated and customizable web content aggregation. The content we created was media rich and our custom WYSYWIG editor let the authors create media and data rich content. The content was deployed using a 3-tiered environment (development, staging and production) to the web and mobile interfaces.The mobile front-end was built on a custom (HTML5, JQuery based Javascript and CSS) mobile library that was highly interactive, employing intuitive custom touch/swipe controls and responsive animated navigation. The content was very media rich including custom layouts per article with galleries and in-text object tagging. The interactivity and usability of the HTML5 interface was on par with current native apps.A lot of rapid prototyping for features and products was also done, usually in HTML5/Ruby on Rails to create mostly working prototypes.

Designed and created a custom contextual search engine. The was a distributed system that could run across n-machines or a single machine as performance dictated (adding additional servers to the system would speed up contextual searches and other operations). The system would accept many document types (PDF, DOC, DOCX, plainttext) and would find contextual matches, returning lists with context match ratings and matching details.The web front-end was built on Tomcat with JSP, with applets for document processing and drag & drop capabilities (before HTML5). Search results could also be filtered on any number of tags and document attributes. Custom plugins were built for in browser (Firefox, Chrome) web searches, usually current page contextual matches, and for Microsoft Office in document context searching.
