I first started out as an ice cream scooper-or someone who simply takes customers orders. Within a month I was promoted to a manager that acted as a shift lead. In this position I am responsible for an entire team, take customers complaints, and count the money made for the shift. I just recently got an additional promotion where I am responsible for making the ice cream from scratch. I typically make anywhere between 10-30 cans of ice cream a shift.

A part of the Heart and Vascular Clinical Trails Office at UNMC where we help conduct clinical trial studies alongside the medical doctors. In this position I provide essential clerical support to the Research team by organizing and updating inventory of lab kits, scanning, copying, and tracking documents. I stayed in the same lab as my summer internship, and I did this while finishing up my last semester at Northwest Missouri State University. I was responsible for obtaining sequencing data from both wastewater and patient samples and then reporting the results to the state health department. We were mainly focused on SARS-CoV-2 and MPX surveillance, but we also looked at other pathogens such as Yersinia Pestis and Chlamydia. I also helped organize packing lists, reagents, and filed export control for shipping worldwide. On top of that I was responsible for smaller tasks such as organizing the lab freezers/refrigerators, setting a standard for la organization, reagent inventory, weekly cleaning schedule, and other miscellaneous things. I operated as a catch all individual for my lab.

I work full-time in a lab as a student intern for the summer. My project consists of me extracting and isolating nucleic acid in wastewater samples throughout Nebraska and running PCR's to determine if I can detect any pathogens in the wastewater that could be used as surveillance for early detection of pathogens circulating through a population as well as to look at the different strains circulating.

I have had many roles in the student success center. I first started as a supplemental instructor for principles of biology. In this role I sat back in on the course every class and then would hold three weekly tutoring sessions at night. I was responsible for planning activities that would engage students while also guiding them through the activities. The next position I took in was one on one tutoring. I tend to tutor chemistry/biology courses, but I have done a couple general education courses. Lastly, I had the opportunity of being a SI leader. In this position, I was one of four students that acted as a bridge between our student employees and our big bosses. I also helped and lead monthly PD for our employees and helped train our new hires.
