Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Gabrielle Garo is a multi-instrumentalist, playing the flute, piccolo, alto, tenor, and soprano saxophones. A scholarship recipient of the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation, she was an ambassador for the Latin Grammy Awards ‘18 and was a presenter alongside Ricky Martin in the Latin Grammy Awards ‘19. She is the 2015 International Women in Jazz Youth in Action Winner, a winner of various awards, and has participated in the world record breaking event for the largest flute ensemble.Feat. in Ab-Soul’s Tiny Desk Concert, Gabrielle has performed with Beyoncé opening the Oscar Awards ‘22. Recently apart of The Special Tour, she has opened The 62nd GRAMMY Awards and BET Awards with Lizzo. She has performed with Chloe X Halle at the Global Citizen Fest ‘21, has shared the stage with Robert Glasper and the LA Phil at Walt Disney Concert Hall, and was a panelist on the Grammy Museum’s Business & Performance Panel for the Grammy in the Schools Festival ‘21. Gabrielle is feat. on the Grammy nominated album, “West Side Story Reimagined” with the Bobby Sanabria Multiverse Big Band, and is apart of the big band’s latest album, “Vox Humana.”A graduate of LaGuardia High School, Gabrielle has studied with Najee, Nestor Torres, Kent Jordan, Yosvany Terry, Keith Underwood, and Lorna Myers, vocalist at the Metropolitan Opera. Gabrielle has performed at music festivals and venues around the globe. She joined the Christian McBride Big Band on their first European tour, and has performed with additional music greats such as, Jennifer Hudson, Jon Batiste, Black Thought, Eddie Palmieri, Larry Harlow, Esperanza Spalding, Arturo Sandoval, Candido Camero, Phoenix Rivera, Arturo O’Farrill and his Latin Jazz Orchestra, Paquito D’Rivera, Delfeayo Marsalis & the Uptown Jazz Orchestra, and James Galway, just to name a few.Gabrielle has recorded with Jon Batiste as part of an NBA Playoff commercial, recorded on his “Live at Electric Lady” exclusive Spotify album, and has also performed for and with T.I. as a requested backdrop in promotion for his album and movie release. She has appeared on The Today Show, CBS, Brooklyn 45 TV, CBS’ “The Couch” Morning Show, and in Season 2 of Spike Lee’s “She’s Gotta Have It.” She has conducted an interview with Paquito D’Rivera through Jazz at Lincoln Center, where she is an Asst. Band Director for the organization’s Middle School Jazz Academy. Gabrielle is a graduate of The New School, obtaining her Undergraduate Degree in Jazz Performance (‘19), and Master’s Degree in Arts Management & Entrepreneurship (‘20).
