I teach Integrated Science 1 and Marine Science, and am the Orange County Academic Decathlon coach for Northwood High School. I work with students of all demographics and learning levels, plan lessons, collaborate with staff and admin, and attend professional development courses.

UCI Science Project is grounded in research-based educational practices and understands the paradigm shifts needed for the Next Generation Science Standards. As a program facilitator, I support educators to be transformative leaders and am committed to addressing racial, social, and environmental injustices through collaborative efforts. It is my goal to position educators as agents of change for community action.

UCI CalTeach assigns student teachers to middle and high schools throughout Orange County. Every year, Northwood High School receives 2-3 student teachers and pairs them with a mentor teacher at the site. As Team Lead, I act as a support system for both student and mentor teachers throughout the school year. It's my responsibility to coach and facilitate my colleagues to provide effective mentorship for their apprentices.

As part of the Cal Teach program at the University of California, Irvine, I was required to complete 500+ hours of fieldwork within classrooms. About 120 of those hours were dedicated to observations and the remaining 350 were done through student teaching. As a student teacher, I was required to spend a minimum of 4 hours in the class each week day. A day in the classroom included: creating rigorous and STEM-based curriculum; engaging in individual, small group, and whole class discussion; building rapport with students; creating a safe learning environment for the students; and ultimately preparing the students with college or career-readiness abilities. I worked with students of multiple socioeconomic backgrounds and varying levels of English-Language learners.

The Aquarium of the Pacific is a non-profit organization. As an Exhibit Interpreter, I was responsible for interacting with the thousands of guests that visit the aquarium per day, striving to fulfill the aquarium's mission: to instill a sense of wonder, respect, and stewardship for the Pacific Ocean, its inhabitants, and ecosystems.

The Noyce Teaching Internship involves teaching in "out-of-the-classroom," or informal, environments. Responsibilities include developing interactive lesson plans for K-12 students to be published on Merlot.org, committing to weekly meetings, and working a minimum of 120 hours at an informal science center during the summer.

Jumpstart is a national early education organization that recruits and trains college students and community Corps members to serve preschool children in low-income neighborhoods. During my time as a Corps member, I assisted teachers with classroom management and conducted new sessions every week. These sessions involved using books with enriching vocabulary to bring phonemic and literary awareness to the children through writing, art, and dramatic play activities. My goal was aligned with Jumpstart's mission: working towards the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed.
