I work as a Teaching Assistant (TA) in Johns Hopkins' Department of Applied Mathematics and Statistics. In particular, I was a TA for Discrete Mathematics and for Introduction to Optimization. As a TA, I was responsible for constructing material to teach my students during weekly sessions, assisting students during office hours, and grading assignments weekly. Because of my efforts, I received an undergraduate award for Excellence in Teaching from my department.

I conducted research in my department in the study of percolation models. A percolation model is an infinite graph, from which edges are deleted independently with probability p. The percolation threshold of an infinite graph is the critical probability p_c above which there exists a connected, infinite component. In my research, I investigated how to calculate the percolation threshold of a two-uniform tiling.

As an actuarial intern, I was trained along with the new hires in the Mercer analytical tools and packages used for our actuarial analyses. In addition, I learned more about the Health Insurance industry, and the policies and rules that affect it. During the summer, I worked on projects including (but not limited to) NetPiC Analysis, IBNP Modeling, and Rate Renewal Projections.

As an actuarial intern, I worked in Bolton Partner's Defined Benefits department. In particular, I constructed output tables for one of our experience studies which were approved to be used by the company, I worked with my supervisor on SOP valuations and writing up final valuation reports, and I assisted with constructing accounting reports for our clients.
