4th Year Clinical Placement - PAEDIATRIC (Rural)On this placement I have a generalised paediatric caseload, providing speech pathology services to children and families throughout the greater Bunbury area. At WACHS I will have the ability to gain experience across a broad range of areas, including fluency, AAC, paediatric feeding, early language and more.Here, I am developing my skills in delivering client and family-led treatment approaches (e.g. Hanen, Lidcombe) in a range of settings including individual sessions with children and caregivers, 1:1 school visits, and school-based groups.Due to the rural locality of this placement, I am offered a unique experience in the diversity of cases I will be exposed to. I also have the opportunity to continue honing my interdisciplinary team building skills with child health nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, AHAs, dietitians, childcare staff and teaching staff.

4th Year Clinical Placement - ADULTThis placement involved working with adult clients with an array of communication/swallowing impairments such as cognitive communication disorder, apraxia of speech, dysarthria and dysphagia as a result of acquired brain injury (ABI)/cerebrovascular accidents (CVA). I conducted/interpreted both standardised and informal assessments, and planned/facilitated treatment both 1:1 and in groups.This placement provided me the opportunity to develop skills in multidisciplinary teamwork. I participated in multidisciplinary team meetings involving SPs, PTs, OTs, TAs, social workers, nursing staff, and disability support workers.
