As the School-based YLC (SYLC) Coordinator I work to write, pilot, and improve the implementation of a positive youth development program centered on evidence-based sexuality health education and leadership principles.As of July 2024, I have overseen the implementation of the first iteration of the SYLC at Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences. Ten students were recruited to take on the challenges of planning and implementing a project intended to positively impact their school environment. The students settled on a project intended to start conversations with their peers around the topic of consent by offering opportunities to win prizes and candy after answering trivia questions. Over the course of three implementations the students interacted with 213 of their peers, far exceeding their initial reach goals.

As Community Engagement Supervisor for the Maternal and Child Health Outreach program, I trained and supervised a diverse team of outreach workers to engage in community health work, providing team members with intentional mentorship to grow cultural competencies and awarenessI worked to improve everyday workflows with intention and a focus on data and community, resulting in quarterly client contact growth (55% from Q2 to Q3 of 22/23 fiscal year). I have collaborated across departments and programs to improve clinic experience for the vulnerable populations the health department is committed to providing care for. For the past year and a half, I have recruited strategic partnerships which enabled outreach workers to bring SoonerCare, referrals, and critical health education to target populations. I led large scale projects and events, collaborating on proposals, planning, and execution.

As a second year corps member, I am helping to facilitate the training of first year corps members by planning and executing team and community builders, initiating SEL and PD check-ins, and continuing my emphasis on pedagogical theory in the workplace. Working with a diverse group of first and second year corps members, I am helping to fill in the gaps of the underserved and underfunded TPS schools included in the City Year program.

As an Americorps members I helped foster the learning and social emotional development of tenth graders in an underserved district. I facilitated events as co-event coordinator and helped to manage student conflict and uplift student voice. I focused on bringing in pedagogical theory into the City Year space and connecting it to our organization's values.

I communicate, collaborate on, plan and execute a variety of events related to my position in the LGBTQA program.

Learning about crisis management, critical thinking, creative solutions, and team building. As an RA, I interact with people of diverse backgrounds, inspire them to get involved, and center my working life around students.
