Gabrielle Barnes has a love for writing that has led her to many fulfilling and unique adventures. She graduated from Oakwood and Pace Universities with a Bachelor of Arts in professional writing and a Master of Science in publishing, respectively. After spending time as a writer in an advertising and design firm and as a high school English teacher, Gabrielle began working in book publishing for literary agencies and publishing houses to pursue her dream of guiding young authors. Gabrielle created the Diction Media Group through which she consults authors, artists, and entrepreneurs in publishing, communication, and branding. She currently serves as a writer-editor for the Communication and Outreach Section of the National Library Service for the Blind and Print Disabled at the Library of Congress. Outside the office, Gabrielle is passionate about serving her community in various philanthropic efforts. In order to carry on the legacy of her late brother, David Baldwin Barnes, she founded the GAIT Foundation to support people of color in communication on Capitol Hill. She continues to teach poetry and creative composition workshops and work with non-profit writing and mentorship organizations. When she is not busy helping others write, Gabrielle travels the world creating new stories of her own.
