In this part-time volunteer role supporting Australia East's Graduate Development Organisation (GDO), I was responsible for identifying, front-end scoping and managing the delivery of Graduate Projects within time and budget constraints. CareerTrackers is a national non-profit organization that creates internship opportunities for Indigenous university students. Leveraging the 45-year legacy of the INROADS African-American internship program in the United States, CareerTrackers has adapted this model to address Indigenous disadvantage throughout Australia. CareerTrackers supports pre-professional Indigenous university students and links them with private sector employers to participate in paid multi-year internships. Students perform their internship with a sponsoring company with the aim of converting from intern into full-time employee upon completion of their university degree. In addition to making long-lasting placements CareerTrackers provides a wide spectrum of support to help prepare students for leadership in the workplace and the community.

During the university summer break I participated in a 12 week structured internship program where I received extensive training and a wide range of experience in the key areas of Human Resources. At the end of the intensive internship period I was invited to proceed working with WorleyParsons during the university semester as an Undergraduate in the People Group, where I continued to assist the team and received ongoing training in Talent Management and Development, Resourcing and Recruitment, General Human Resources and Administration, and Diversity and Inclusion. After graduating from my Bachelor of Behavioral Science (Psychology) I was offered a role with WorleyParsons in Talent Management and Development as a Graduate.

I assisted the marketing and recruitment departments with the major QUT information events where I provided consultations to prospective students regarding courses, subjects, university policies and processes, and shared my perspective as a student at QUT. As well as major events such as Open Day and TSXPO, I attended school expos, career fairs and information sessions, and appeared on specialist panels. I also assisted with other generalist tasks involved with the setup, running, and closure of smaller events and ceremonies. In addition to this I participated in group sessions advising the design of prospective student guidebooks, and in photoshoots where I appeared on books, flyers and the QUT website. I continued to work as a Student Ambassador at QUT on an as needed basis until my graduation in December of 2014.
