As a Communications Analyst/Safety Alert Writer at Citizen, I was mainly tasked with keeping others safe and informed about what is happening in their neighborhood. On a day-to-day basis, I processed live audio from police, firefighters, and other emergency personnel as it came in and reported on live events in real time in the form of brief updates that were pushed to hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of users across the United States.I reported on almost anything you can think of as it relates to safety, ranging from smaller incidents like garbage fires and squirrels stuck in stores (if you've ever seen meme pages post some of our funnier incident titles like "Squirrel Going Nuts in Apartment" or similar, that was me!), to national news stories such as mass shootings in major cities, large social justice movements during the peak of George Floyd/Black Lives Matter protests/marches, and many more. On an average day, I sent out notifications and updates to anywhere from 100,000 to 1,000,000+ people directly.Additionally, I was also a devoted member of the company's DEI Committee, as well as a key contributor to their Content & Growth team. I helped manage and was the main contributor to the company's 640,000+ follower TikTok account, which I helped grow from 400,000 followers in just five months.Outside of those tasks, I also helped develop reporting standards for our team, be it through assisting in refining the company's QA policies to creating useful documents to help acclimate new analysts. In addition, I assisted in overseeing a group of talented analysts from across the globe that aided in Citizen's efforts in keeping our communities safe. On top of that, I was also responsible for overseeing groups of other Safety Alert writers as they performed some of the same duties listed above. I offered guidance, advice, and edits for their work, often teaching them our editorial standards to ensure we are providing quality content to our users.

I was a TA for a Writing Communication class, taught by Dr. Andrew Sachs. Much like being a tutor, being a TA allowed me to help a class of 25 students better their writing skills. It was extremely fulfilling to see students improve on a day-to-day basis, and help them along the way if they felt they were falling off track. I'm extremely lucky that Dr. Sachs gave me a lot of freedom to be hands-on in this course, whether it was giving feedback to students on their work or running the class entirely on certain days.

Because of my grades, I was given the opportunity to help some of our student-athletes who are struggling in certain classes. I enjoy working one-on-one with students, as it gives me the opportunity to work on my ability to communicate information effectively and teach others in subjects I am passionate about.

I assisted Dr. Matthew Grizzard, Ph.D. and his team with research throughout the 2017-2018 academic year as a third-year undergraduate student. It was here that I was able to strengthen my skills as a team player, and did whatever was necessary to meet the team's goals, whether it was running our lab or coding information. As much as I would have loved to continue with Dr. Grizzard and his team, he has taken his talents to Ohio State University. The experience taught me a lot about the brainstorming, researching, and development process of obtaining valuable information about topics worth talking about, as well as how to work well with a team and within a collaborative environment.

I received a promotion from my Freelance Copyeditor/Supervisor position and worked alongside management to help decide what and when important tasks needed to be completed. While I still maintained the same responsibilities I had previously, this new position also involved new tasks, such as reaching out and speaking personally with all of our editors about their progress, updating excel sheets with goals everyone in the company must reach, and overseeing multiple company emails that handled job applications and dealt with any issues that arose with our editors.In addition to these new responsibilities, I was also the head of our social media sector. Here, I was responsible for maintaining and updating the company Facebook page, interacting with fans and potential employees, as well as devising new strategies for the company to recruit potential employees. At such a fast-growing company like Nyoi-Bo Studio, this required diligence and attentiveness to keep up with our rapid growth, but it was a challenge I embraced and looked forward to tackling each and every day.

While I wore many different hats as an Operation Assistant at Nyoi-Bo Studio, I was first hired as a copy editor, editing for spelling, grammar, punctuation, clarity, as well as an overall enjoyable reading experience. It was through my work as an editor for several novels that I received a promotion, as the novels I helped edit have gone on to be very successful on the company's platform. Having an excellent grasp of the English language has helped me in many areas over the years, and I have found that whether it comes in the form of communicating effectively in person or detailing important information to other employees, having the ability to read and write well has helped me develop as both a person and an employee.As a supervisor, I handled many different things on a day to day basis. One of the most important things I worked on was evaluating incoming translators and editors to see if they would be a good fit for the team at Nyoi-Bo Studio. Here I had the responsibility of deciding who was and was not hired, which is not something I took lightly. Choosing motivated people to join our team is something I found to be both challenging and enjoyable, as it gave me the freedom to work on my skills as both a leader in the workplace and an unbiased evaluator of talent.In addition, I worked alongside other supervisors to decide on new standards and regulations for our editors, as well as mentored new employees to help them learn the ropes of the company. Mentoring is one of the things I enjoyed most about working at Nyoi-Bo Studio; it allowed me to foster a unique and strong relationship with new employees, all while helping them improve as editors. Skills and experiences like these are things I have come to love about the leadership process, and I am confident that I can bring these same skills to the table for other companies should I be given the opportunity.

During my two summers at Nature Republic, I was a consistent top-five seller, selling as much as $800 worth of skincare products in a day. There were also numerous positive Yelp! reviews of customers' shopping experience where I was mentioned by name (Nature Republic Union Square). Something I particularly enjoyed about my time at Nature Republic was building strong relationships with customers, whether they visited once a week or simply wandered in off the street.

During my time at Peter Callahan Catering, I worked as a server, bathroom attendant, and member of the cleanup crew for high-end events. It was at these events that I interacted with both higher-ups in the company as well as patrons of said events, which ranged from CEOs to founders.
