Gabriel Yeager joined the DTLA Alliance as the organization’s first Director of Placemaking and Events in January 2024. Since assuming this position, Gabriel has led a series of placemaking initiatives to improve the quality of Downtown LA’s public realm, including restoring street lighting, installing new café lighting, and launching the “Heart of Downtown” campaign across utility boxes, bus shelters, and vacant storefronts. Additionally, Gabriel oversees DTLA Alliance’s portfolio of events, including Dog Days and the Halloween Festival for Kids, and has expanded DTLA Alliance’s offerings with new events and experiences, including the Office Games, DTLA Movie Nights, and Grand Illuminations. Gabriel previously worked for Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 for nearly a decade, creating and implementing an ambitious public realm strategy, including new murals and public art, aesthetic lighting enhancements, public space programming, and district-wide wayfinding. He helped secure significant funding and support from both the public and private sectors throughout his tenure, totaling over $750,000 in downtown improvement projects. Yeager holds a Master of Urban Planning (MUP) and a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies (BSAS) from UW-Milwaukee's School of Architecture + Urban Planning.
