Tony Mwaniki is currently engaged by Wetlands International on a short term consultancy. He is offering consultancy services on the Application of Geo-data on Water Resources Management for Sustainable Ecosystems and Improved Livelihoods in Kajiado County, Kenya. Under the project, he is implementing activities not limited to; -Development of Time-series land use land cover maps -Development of Management plans through public participation. So far I have developed one Sub -Catchment Management Plan to facilitate sustainable resource utilization. -Spatial data collection using open source mobile based applications (ODK and SW Maps) -Conducting participatory environment hazard and risk assessment within the County together with community members. -Development of remotely sensed spectral indices to monitor historical and current vegetation health -Soil and Water Resources modeling to evaluate the effect of land management practices within the County’s ecosystem. -Development of an enterprise database to hold spatial and non-spatial data derived from the project. -Planned development of a web-based system for dissemination of data and information from the project. -Capacity building of Kajiado County staff and their relevant stakeholders on data management not limited to spatial data collection and data analysis
