Launched the Tech+ newsletter in Spring 2017 to help readers with their personal technology issues and education. Launched the paper's blogging effort with the Gadgetress blog (ocregister.com/gadgetress) in January 2005. Reviewed all sorts of gadgets, including smartphones, routers, GPS units and other hardware devices from local and international companies. In its last evolution, the blog focused on technology we live with, from cable TV to mobile and Internet service -- with a local emphasis. Gadgetress evolved weekly based on my analysis of traffic, communication with readers and social-network research to determine what and why people were reading. While the blog's content was the most important, I experimented with everything to visually grab the reader, joined Feedburner to offer a free newsletter, used bit.ly to track effectiveness of standing page features and added automation (plug-ins, feeds, etc.) to keep pages updated every second. Blog traffic doubled every year. Also helped other reporters start blogs and maintain them.Additionally, I covered finances and news of several Orange County's technology companies, including Blizzard Entertainment (and its World of Warcraft), Broadcom and Western Digital. Wrote product reviews, a tech-advice column and feature stories on computers, gaming and gadgets.
