Alberta

As a crown corporation reporting to the Minister, the board’s mandate is to govern and to regulate the liquor, cannabis and gaming industries. The board is responsible for approving policies and procedures related to the regulatory environment, establishing and monitor the strategic plan, and general oversight including risk management, financial performance, internal audit results and external audit by the Auditor General. As board chair I was responsible for managing the board agenda, overseeing and delivering the CEO performance review and the appointment of hearing panels. Appointed as a board member in 2016 and as Chair in 2017.

Led the board through the development of a strategic plan with a focus on increasing housing supply, being a partner in the 10-year plan to end homelessness and offering a more client centred approach. Sample outputs included: administrative reorganization, new bylaws and offering tenant insurance.
