I took care of a 5 year old boy who showed mild signs of autism, was profoundly deaf in both ears, partially blind in both eyes, and was non-verbal. Due to his lack of non-verbal skills, he was being taught sign language which in turn allowed me to learn a basic knowledge of sign language. When we wouldn't work on sign language skills, I would take him.

During the day, I assistant or substitute for child care teachers, where I teach lessons, give them breakfast and lunch, play inside and outside with them, and read to them. During the evenings, I replace the lead teachers and give the children dinner, read to them, and play games with them. I work with children ages infant to preschool and sometimes.

This was a summer only job, where I would assist the two directors of a middle school theatre camp. The first three weeks, I would help the directors and children in any way I was asked. I was also given the opportunity to choreograph some of the numbers in the musicals. The final week of the camp, when we were at the theatre, I was the light board.

I worked with the Richmond Ballet as an assistant stage manager backstage during performances of The Nutcracker. I organized the props backstage before and after all shows, told the performers when they needed to be on stage, and was the "poof" (a magical, moving coach) in the performance.
