Gaetano Fusco is a Full Professor of Transport at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Roma “La Sapienza”, where he teaches “Traffic Engineering and Intelligent Transportation Systems”. From 1992 to 2005 he has been Assistant professor (Researcher), then, Associate Professor. In 2014 he has been qualified as a Full Professor. Since November 2021 is the President of the Course of Master’s Degree in a transport Systems Engineering of the University of Rome "La Sapienza". From February 2021 to November 2024 he was the Director of the Research Center for the Transport and Logistics at the same University.He is the coordinator of the Spoke Urban Mobility of the National Center for Sustainable Mobility, which joins 24 of the main Universities, the National Research Center, and 24 of the major Italian companies in the transportation field. He is a scientific expert of the Italian Ministry of University and Research and reviewer of several Research and Development projects funded by the Ministry of University and Research and by the Ministry of Industry.He is the Principal investigator of several research projects funded by the Faculty of Engineering and is being participated in various national and international research projects. His research activity, reported in about 90 papers published on the national and international scientific literature, has tackled numerous issues of transport systems engineering, as demand and supply models, methods and regulation for public transit planning and design; nevertheless, it has been mainly addressed to Intelligent Transportation Systems; in particular: models and methods for traffic signal coordination, traveller information systems design, modelling and detection of traffic incidents, traffic state forecasting.
