As the Vice President of Engineering at uPerform, I led a diverse team comprising 14 direct reports, 7 indirect reports, and 30 contractors. My primary responsibility was overseeing the SaaS product's evolution from a monolithic architecture to a cloud-based, multi-tenant microservices architecture on AWS, serving numerous Fortune 100 companies. I provided strategic direction to the architecture, development, quality assurance, and user experience teams, guiding them through complex technical discussions and the software development life cycle (SDLC). Recruiting and managing offshore teams and leading the Product Team to establish timelines and innovative solutions were also under my purview.In addition to these responsibilities, I played a pivotal role in integrating advanced technologies into our processes. This included leading efforts in Semantic Search and Generative AI, where I evaluated various open-source models, Bedrock frameworks, and tools provided by OpenAI. My involvement extended to adapting these technologies to enhance our product's capabilities in understanding and responding to user queries more effectively and creating more dynamic, AI-driven content.

In this role, I managed the House Web Services development team covering more than ten .NET/.NET core applications, House.gov, and House SaaS MCL Platform. I architected applications and developed code in .NET, .NET Core, REST API, MVC, SQL Server, Drupal CMS, and Entity Framework. I also established Agile processes across 30+ team members, mentored 12 developers, and managed Jira for four scrum teams. I gathered technical requirements, created RFPS and SOWs, planned resources, and established strategic roadmaps for complex web projects.Some notable accomplishment in this role include:• Implemented CI/CD process, git-flow branching and merging, code review, coding standards, automated database deployments, and static code analysis tools.• Debugged production issues for all House-supported applications, moved on-premise platform to Contegix Cloud, and led creation and deployment of websites for entire freshman class of Congress on cloud infrastructure.• Improved operations and capabilities with JIRA, Azure, AWS, Docker, Jenkins, Ansible, Cloudflare, GitLab, Gitolite, and OpenShift.

At FEI Systems, I was promoted through several roles with increasing responsibility and technical ability. I directed development teams to help government clients (such as USDA and NIH) bridge the gap between business needs and application of technologies to successfully manage them. I also spearheaded the architecture and development of applications built on numerous frameworks. I served as Scrum Master by leading daily standup meetings, organizing sprints, and maintaining backlogs, task burndown, information radiators, and more.Some contributions in this position include:• Optimized ORM frameworks such as Entity and NHibernate to improve speed and performance, launched web applications on cloud systems, and analyzed legacy systems to inform strategic plan.• Reviewed and refactored code, driving a continuous integration environment using Cruise Control.net and MSBuild.• Directed project plans for enterprise clients, tracking milestones, managing budget, adjusting schedules, and resolving issues to ensure project completion on time and with high quality.• Developed stored procedures, views, and triggers; resolved 500+ compliance issues; integrated third party modules efficiently.
