My first job working at the nursing home helped me learn to manage my time and process various orders coming in at a timely rate. This job offered me experience in communication and team work as that was necessary for a kitchen culture. With this experience I was able to improve my leadership skills when dealing with difficult orders (dietary restrictions, allergies, etc.) and directing staff what to do at the beginning of the shift. Upon leaving the nursing home, I went into manufacturing via Entegra (now Boral). I started stacking tile on to pallets. I then moved to the forklift after gaining my certification. I worked on this for approximately two years. This allowed me to understand the importance of workplace safety and how communication throughout the manufacturing process is important. I then moved to machine operations where I was certified on all the machines we use in the manufacturing process. I briefly moved to Texas where I worked for Graves mechanical for six months as an HVAC mechanic. This allowed me to gain my OSHA-10 certification and gave me a new insight on workplace safety and how to operate efficiently. I also learned more about communication in the construction atmosphere. Upon returning back to Florida in February of 2018, I returned to manufacturing with Boral (now Westlake). Where I was made the line lead which entailed supervising the workers on the line and assisting with any mechanical issues and problem solving any issues that would arise during a shift. I then transferred to the Westlake Pipe and fittings in Leola Pennsylvania. During my time in the new section of manufacturing, i quickly learned all the new equipment and was promoted to Blender. I was able to move materials from the trains to the silos and manage the levels. I would also need to problem solve on the spot when any issues would arise. When I returned to Florida, I changed careers into the warehousing business with FHI. Working with FHI has allowed me to grow with a more diverse set of leadership skills. I am able to use all my previous experiences in other companies to help grow and develop strong leaders under me. My hopes with my new career are to encourage employees to learn and grow within the company. I hope that my leadership skills will allow me to excel and in turn make my company excel with me.
