• Lead labour relations and union management responsibilities for Toronto branch, including preparing for and conducting grievance meetings, arbitration hearings, and collective bargaining negotiations• Key contributor in successful negotiation of three CBAs for two unions• Successfully advise and lead branch management in employee relations including progressive discipline, corrective performance coaching, investigations and training in compliance with applicable employment laws, collective bargaining agreements and company policies.• Coordinates employee separations, including terminations with or without cause, and layoffs • Full-cycle recruitment to successfully place candidates for a variety of positions – hourly, salaried, unionized and non-unionized• Successfully performs job analysis and prepares job descriptions for a variety of positions• Acts as co-chair of branch Joint Health and Safety Committee, including leading safety inspections and facilitating correction of safety issues• Responsible for health and safety initiatives, including reporting workplace injuries and illnesses to WSIB, facilitating effective return to work through alternative employment program and liaising with Ministry of Labour and Workplace Safety & Insurance Board. • Successfully manages administration of two unionized benefits plans, including the preparation of benefits contribution reports, distribution of benefits documents and responding to employee inquiries.• Processes salaried and hourly payroll tasks• Develops a variety of specialized training materials and conducts training sessions • Exhibits excellent time management skills in balancing multiple priorities relating to over 300 unionized and non-unionized hourly and salaried employees. • Communicates well with all levels of the organization via phone, email, written and verbal communication channels.
