The Studio @ 620 is the brainchild of Artistic Directors David Ellis and Bob Devin Jones along with a host of hard working board members, volunteers, patrons, and visionaries. The idea grew out a core belief that art and diversity play a crucial role in the lives of individuals and communities. The primary goal of The Studio@620 is to bring together people from various cultural backgrounds and experiences, as artists, audience members, and volunteers. “When you pass through the doors of The Studio, look to be entertained, educated, and challenged by art, heritage, history, song, literature, theater, moving pictures, and moving bodies through space.” says Bob Devin.

Responsible for developing and implementing the mission and multiple programs for Mayor’s Mentors & More, a nationally recognized education initiative. Examples of accomplishments include:• Developed the Corporate Partner program linked to each of St Petersburg’s 47 schools. Facilitated partnerships between the principals at each school and executives from 80 area employers.• Initiated a Mentor program that resulted in over 1000 trained mentors committed to mentoring one hour per week.• Planned major events and developed communication tools (web site, videos, awards, etc) to support the programs.• Coordinated other programs related to improving educational quality for St Petersburg students.

Researched, formulated programs, and successfully wrote state, federal, local and foundation grants for the city. •Grants supported a wide range of social programs (e.g. youth programs, elderly services, midtown development, etc) as well as infrastructure needs •Consistently exceeded annual grant funding goals. Awards increased from $4 million in 1994 to $24 million in 1996.•Involved in winning $17 million in grant awards.Accomplishments include:•Developed strategy programs and coordinated the application for a major Federal Crime Prevention program (Weed and Seed), resulting in annual funding for the Challenge area of St. Petersburg of $250,000 each year.­•Lead writer for a $1.7 million grant to expand Clam Bayou Park.•Developed and wrote the application for the construction of a $450,000 art wing of the Wildwood Recreation Center. This was the first grant ever given by the state for a recreation center-related cultural facility.

Acted as fiscal support for Administrator for Public Works including analysis and monitoring of the annual budgets for the 11 departments forming the Public Work Administration. Performed complex analysis, using database software, to significantly redesign the water and sewer rates for utility customers. The final design achieved targeted revenue as well as customer acceptance. Analyzed and made recommendations for each of the Internal Service and Enterprise Fund department rates.
