I've been a writer since I first understood that writing lets you be true to yourself like nothing else. I am deeply grateful that All Things That Matter Press picked up my memoir and brought it out in October 2023. White Wife/Blue Baby is about crossing the color line in superheated '60s Chicago and then parenting a dangerously ill baby girl. I've started a series, "White Girl Mistakes," along with other blogs at www.whitewifechicago1968.blog/ and on my facebook page. Earlier work appeared in The Massachusetts Review, The Village Voice Literary Supplement, and Dr. Tom Plaut’s Asthma Guide for People of All Ages. My article about teaching writing appeared in the Multicultural Review, a magazine for which I also wrote reviews of poetry and fiction. Earlier, my poetry appeared in little magazines. I greatly enjoyed teaching Truth Be Told Memoir Workshops for a few years. I stopped to take my own advice: write every day -- give your writing the time it needs.

Truth Be Told Memoir Workshops provide support, structure and company for memoirists at all levels. Serving both men and women, sessions meet weekly for 4 to 8 weeks. As instructor, I gently help students identify and build on their strengths, using the eye for quality that I have developed through 30 years of experience in teaching and writing memoir. Truth Be Told Workshops welcome those who have already begun a memoir project and those who aren’t sure where to start.

Developed partnerships with Norwalk and Stamford Public Schools to lessen the need for remedial courses for underprepared students. Developed enrichment program for students who aspire to be first in their families to complete college. Initiated program for those 50 and older who seek to re-enter the workforce through training and contacts with local employers in health, social service and education. Developed an internship program linking NCC students to local employers.
