Urban Bio Recovery - digesters for development - works with urban innovators to convert organic wastes into fuel and fertilizer to improve health, living conditions, and economic opportunity.The site of our global launch is Rio de Janeiro, where we have completed a showplace system at a favela-based preschool and are now working with Rio officials to scale-up our project to benefit many more schools.

Led the organization of Solar CITIES Solutions as a U.S. nonprofit with a mission to expand the use of small-scale biodigesters to improve urban sanitation, health, energy access, and environmental protection.

Built a business plan and strategy for the launch of Solar CITIES Solutions as a new U.S.-based nonprofit organization.

Built EV's program to publicize and pursue the benefits of turning organic wastes into a sustainable vehicle fuel – "renewable natural gas" (RNG). Founded and co-chaired (with Rutgers University EcoComplex) the New Jersey Work Group on RNG. Co-chaired the Biomass Work Group for the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities. Edited and illustrated Waste to Wheels, a national report on biome thane vehicle fuel, based on a conference sponsored by Argonne National Laboratory.

Created and demonstrated a new prototype of math-education laboratories in NYC after-school programs.

Created and directed projects to introduce model curricula and instructional practices from Russia and other Eastern European countries into K-12 math classrooms in the U.S. Organized international workshops to engage leading mathematics teachers and researchers from Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and the U.S. in creating problem sets to enrich the teaching of secondary school mathematics. Co-authored the partial adaptation of an elementary school math curriculum from Russia and supervised its implementation in after-school classrooms in Hoboken and Newark, New Jersey.

Spearheaded national-state collaborations to launch the Child Care Fund in Indiana, and early education initiatives in Kentucky, Ohio, and Oregon.

Built the Foundation's signature early childhood education program to adapt French innovations in nurseries, preschools, and preventive health clinics to U.S. settings. Organized two high-level US missions to France and six state conferences. Influenced policies, research, and program practices at state and federal levels.

Built, documented, and publicized a prize-winning soil and water conservation program based on the use of subsurface moisture monitors to curb water waste and promote yields on irrigated farm fields in western states.

Taught courses in international politics and political theory.
