    AAI was a licenced adoption agency in the US and AAI in Ethiopia was a branch of this organization. Both offices were closed down in early 2014.AAI in Ethiopia placed children for adoption to the United States, ages 0-16 years including sibling groups and children with disabilities. During my years with this organization I learned the ups and downs of the procedures and requirements of adoption in the country of Ethiopia, as well as the adoption laws of the United States, including paperwork requirements, visa requirements and requirements for children with HIV. I established the child care center in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (Layla House) as well as the home originally used in Accra, Ghana. I had a strong management team in our Ethiopian office and together we processed around 3000 adoptions. Two highlight of my career with AAI was working with the children and seeing them successfully transition through the various stages of the adoption process, and getting to know their adoptive families. I am still in touch with many of them today. A second highlight was the growth within the staff, as internal promotions and personal development were a big part of our organization culture. This respect and dedication between all staff meant that there was little staff turnover and great loyalty, something that I am immensely proud of.
