About Gail Kastning, B.Ed., Ccdp, Ccs

Purposeful Careers is a talented team of career specialists, educators, and instructional designers who design career and business support programs. Our specialty is in the innovative design and delivery of career and business support for independent workers (freelancers, contractors, consultants) and solopreneurs. As independent workers ourselves, we've had difficulty finding support that meets our unique needs, so we decided to design it ourselves.Since 2010, we’ve researched the growth in on-demand labour and the gig economy and we’ve captured career and business stories of independent workers and portfolio careerists from across Canada to determine their needs. Our latest design project? The Branch Out™ Workshop Series provides career and business support for non-traditional workers in Alberta. This pilot program launched in the fall of 2023 with funding from The Province of Alberta working in partnership with the Government of Canada to provide employment support programs and services. Our side hustle? We love to share our knowledge and expertise through consultation and contract design work. We help organizations evaluate their existing career and business supports, realign their program to better meet their client outcomes or help design branded training. We also been know to design hiring support for employers interested in hiring independent workers. As a company, we prefer to hire freelancers, contractors and consultants ourselves so we have designed an amazing HR toolkit to support solopreneurs, startups and small business owners like us. We have a passion and a knack for creating effective and beautifully designed learning products that inspire career and business learning. For more information, visit my website at ☛ http://www.purposefulcareers.ca

Our area of specialty is in the innovative design and delivery of career and business support for independent workers. Our latest design project is The Branch Out Workshop Series that provides career support to non-traditional workers. This program is new to the Alberta career development industry, and will launch the fall of 2023. When we aren’t designing programs, we provide consultation to organizations on the design and development of career support for their client base. We also evaluate existing programming within organizations and help realign supports to better meet client outcomes and program deliverables. We also act as subject matter experts on small to large scale employment projects providing content and design expertise. In the past, our program design accomplishments have included designing language programs including FSL, EAL/ESL, intercultural training programs and international student programming. We moved into the career development training sphere in 2007 and have remained there since. However, our previous program design roots in language, culture and diversity influences our career development program design.
