Advocated to remove an unused freight rail track running along the Pacific Coast connecting several midsize towns to build the spine of a safe active transportation network. Responsible for press communications, advertising, direct mail, eBlasts, social media, presentations, rallies, research, fundraising, and organizational leadership.• Developed, launched, and scaled a recognizable brand, a positive tone, and key messaging for the Greenway campaign• Built and managed a community of knowledgeable, engaged, and committed supporters and volunteers• Helped to write, promote, and pass a successful ballot measure• Researched and documented how Progressive Rail has impacted Midwestern communities, their potential motives for operating on our County’s rail line, and the close ties between the U.S. Rail Industry and the Fossil Fuel Industry

Served as Parent Volunteer Association Co-Chair for Pacific Collegiate School's Board of Directors. In this role I led the Parent Volunteer Association (PVA), coordinating all parent volunteer activities including the annual auction. Pacific Collegiate School, a public charter school serving students 7-12th grades, was ranked as the #1 charter high school in California, #3 best high school in California, #5 best charter school in the country, and #18 best high school in the country (US World & News Report, May 2015).

We relocated for my husband’s career while I was pregnant and I was grateful to spend time raising kind and healthy children while leading community initiatives, participating in a journalism fellowship program, serving on two school boards, coordinating fundraisers, and editing newsletters.

Recruited 40+ volunteers and managed the planning committee for the festival/ fundraiser. Worked with committee chairs to orchestrate public relations, partner marketing and outreach for sponsorships, auction & in-kind donations.

Studied innovation through design thinking, researched stress and happiness, and networked with talented journalists from around the United States and the world.

Founded the visual arts department and helped to establish an overall vision for this newly formed, arts-based high school. Designed curriculum for college-bound high school art students, screened applicants and taught ninth and tenth grade art-major courses and 9th grade English.

Competitive fellowship. Taught ninth-grade English in a classroom that included students from 13-21 years of age with a variety of special needs. Applied for and received a grant that enabled me to form an extracurricular feminist writer's group for girls. Produced a school-wide literary journal.

Helped relaunch the Macy’s brand. Worked on a variety of special projects including concepts and designs for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, the Kidz Zone and other events. Designed advertisements, posters, brochures, promotional products and special giveaways.

Responsible for all aspects of publishing a quarterly magazine, a monthly newsletter, and a variety of promotional materials including posters, brochures, event invitations, menus, etc. Redesigned layouts to improve visual appeal and readability. Developed and adhered to a budget while improving the overall quality of the publications. Worked directly with print vendors to select materials, negotiate costs and verify quality by reviewing blueprints and conducting on site press checks. Sold advertisements to increase the budget in order to produce a full color magazine on high quality paper. Brainstormed ways to improve customer satisfaction; increase and retain membership, loyalty and club use and build our overall image as part of a dynamic management team.

Worked closely with one of the most influential political cartoonists of our time providing background material and imagery for reference. Helped prepare a retrospective exhibit for the Library of Congress. Produced the cover and advertisements for the paperback of Mr. Block's autobiography.

Provided plan administration and eligibility information about health and group benefits over the telephone to Chrysler and Ameritech employees. Edited client databases and assisted in training new and current associates.

Taught Introduction to Art. Developed lesson plans and projects designed to stimulate creativity. Invented group projects and planned lectures, and an active member of a teaching team. Assigned grades based on performance, effort, class participation and attendance.
